{"id":19,"date":"2023-12-27T00:47:13","date_gmt":"2023-12-27T00:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/humanesolution.org\/?page_id=19"},"modified":"2026-02-13T13:51:51","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T18:51:51","slug":"spay-neuter","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/humanesolution.org\/index.php\/spay-neuter\/","title":{"rendered":"Pet Spay-Neuter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1>\n\t\t\tPet Spay &#038; Neuter\t<\/h1>\n\t<h4>SpayKind (formerly Humane Solution) provides reduced-cost vouchers to help under-resourced pet owners and feral cat caretakers with spay\/neuter surgery.<\/h4>\n<h4>If you need help with animal rescue, placement, or veterinary care other than spay\/neuter, please visit our Community Resources page for organizations that may assist you.<\/h4>\n\t<h3 id=\"u31249-2\">Please read all instructions before filling out the application at the bottom of this page.<\/h3>\n<h4 id=\"u31249-13\">Voucher Pricing:<\/h4>\n<ul id=\"u31249-19\">\n<li id=\"u31249-16\">$55 for each cat<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Effective June\u00a0<\/strong><strong>1, <\/strong>dog\u00a0vouchers will be based on the dog&#8217;s weight at the time of surgery, as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3-50 lbs. &#8211; $95<\/li>\n<li>51-100 lbs. &#8211; $125<\/li>\n<li>101+ lbs. &#8211; $150<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<h3><strong>Who Qualifies<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>This program is for\u00a0<strong>pet owners in true financial need<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>We follow\u00a0<strong>NC HUD low-income guidelines<\/strong>\u00a0to determine eligibility.<\/li>\n<li>Please apply only if you truly need assistance so we can serve those most in need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Income Information Required<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Income documentation is <strong>required for all applications<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If you are unable to upload your income documents, please still submit your application<\/li>\n<li>Our team will contact you with alternate ways to provide your information<\/li>\n<li>Please note: this will delay processing time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tNC HUD Income Guidelines\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>1 Person &#8211; $45,650<\/p>\n<p>2 Person &#8211;\u00a0 $52,200<\/p>\n<p>3 Person &#8211; $58,700<\/p>\n<p>4 Person\u00a0&#8211; $65,200<\/p>\n\t<p>5 Person &#8211; $70,450<\/p>\n<p>6 Person &#8211; $75,650<\/p>\n<p>7 Person\u00a0&#8211; $80,850<\/p>\n<p>8 Person &#8211; $86,100<\/p>\n\t<h4>Processing Time<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Online applications: Vouchers mailed in 5-7 days<\/li>\n<li>Mailed applications: May take 2+ weeks to process<\/li>\n<li>Applications are not processed without payment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>If Your Application is Denied<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>You&#8217;ll receive a refund for the voucher cost minus credit card processing fees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\"  id=\"fl-accordion--label-0\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\">What Does the Voucher Cover?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-0\"  tabindex=\"0\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3>What the Voucher Covers<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>SpayKind spay-neuter vouchers cover the cost of surgery only.<\/li>\n<li>Before your appointment, please call a participating vet to:<\/li>\n<li>Let them know you are using a SpayKind voucher<\/li>\n<li>Ask if there will be any additional fees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Possible Additional Vet Charges<\/h4>\n<p>Additional fees may apply for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Extra vaccinations<\/li>\n<li>Overweight pets<\/li>\n<li>Females in heat or pregnant<\/li>\n<li>Cryptorchid males (undescended testicle)<\/li>\n<li>Post-surgery pain medication<\/li>\n<li>Exam fees or clinic voucher fees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Not Allowed With a Voucher<\/h4>\n<p>Humane Solution instructs vets to refuse vouchers if you request:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cat declawing<\/li>\n<li>Dog ear cropping or tail docking<\/li>\n<li>These procedures cannot be done at the same time as surgery when using our voucher.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Important Medical Notes<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Your pet will be under anesthesia, and all surgery carries some risk<\/li>\n<li>The vet may recommend or require additional tests based on your pet&#8217;s health<\/li>\n<li>Discuss costs and care plans with the clinic before your appointment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/humanesolution.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/SpayKind-2026-Participating-Vets-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tClick Here for the Current List of Participating Vets\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t<p><strong>Vouchers typically expire after 4 months (depending on the age of the pet). Expired vouchers can be re-issued for $10. Lost vouchers will also incur the $10 re-issue fee.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>No Show Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rescheduling Appointments:\u00a0<\/strong>If you make an appointment with a veterinarian, keep it.\u00a0 48 hours advance notice required to reschedule or cancel appointments<\/li>\n<li><strong>Missed Vet Appointments:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>No shows result in a voided voucher. To reinstate your voucher, you will be charged the original cost of the voucher.
